Part-Time Housing Support Officer (LGBTQ+ & Veterans' Projects) Location: Southwark/Lambeth Pay Rate: £18-£21 per hour (via umbrella) Hours: 21 hours per week (3-4 days, flexible) Start Date: Early November 2024
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Housing Support Officer for an important role supporting vulnerable individuals across two key projects: an LGBTQ+ domestic abuse refuge and a small veterans' supported housing scheme. This role is focused on providing expert housing benefit advice and emotional support while ensuring services are inclusive, equitable, and meet industry standards.
This part-time position offers flexibility in working days and the opportunity to work closely with the team on enhancing support and evidencing compliance with housing consumer standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Housing Benefit Claims: Manage and resolve HB claims for residents, ensuring timely processing and addressing any issues.
Tailored Support: Provide tailored housing and welfare support to LGBTQ+ domestic abuse survivors and veterans with complex needs, including mental health and reintegration challenges.
Promoting ED&I: Ensure an inclusive environment, advocating for diversity and equality in all aspects of service delivery.
Compliance & Standards: Assist in ensuring housing services meet consumer standards and regulatory compliance, gathering evidence and contributing to improvements.
Requirements:
6+ years of housing support experience, ideally in supported housing or a similar environment.
Proficiency with Housing Benefit regulations and claims management.
Experience working with vulnerable groups, particularly LGBTQ+ individuals and veterans.
Strong understanding of ED&I principles in housing.
Knowledge of housing consumer standards and relevant regulations.
Compassionate communication and problem-solving skills.
