We are seeking a Housing Support Officer to work with young people aged 16-25 in temporary accommodation. The role will focus on property checks and ensuring Housing Benefit claims are processed correctly, helping residents sustain their tenancies and transition into stable housing.
Housing Support Officer Young People (16-25)
Location: Islington Pay Rate: £18-£21 per hour (via umbrella) Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday, flexi-time available) Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
Property Checks: Conduct regular inspections to ensure accommodation meets required standards and report maintenance issues.
Housing Benefit & Income Support: Assist residents with Housing Benefit applications and resolve any claim-related issues.
Tenancy & Housing Support: Guide young people in understanding their tenancy rights and responsibilities to prevent eviction.
Liaison & Partnership Working: Work with external agencies, local councils, and welfare teams to provide comprehensive support.
Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Identify risks and refer residents to appropriate services to ensure their safety and stability.
Requirements
Experience as a Housing Support Officer in supported housing, particularly with young people aged 16-25.
Strong knowledge of Housing Benefit processes and tenancy sustainment.
Ability to conduct property checks and ensure compliance with housing regulations.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and advocacy skills.
Understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures within supported housing.
