The Service Charge Accountant will act as the subject-matter expert for all service charge matters across the organisation.
As a Service Charge Accountant, you will be:
Managing the service charge setting and accounting process across rental and home ownership properties
Producing accurate and timely service charge estimates and year-end statements
Line managing and supporting a Service Charge Officer
Ensuring compliance with service charge legislation, best practice, and internal policies
Supporting internal and external service charge audits
Leading improvements to processes, controls, and service delivery
Acting as an expert advisor to service owners and budget holders
I'd love to speak to anyone who has:
Significant experience in service charge management within the housing sector is a must
Strong knowledge of service charge legislation and Registered Social Landlord income processes
Excellent numeracy and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail
Proven organisational skills and the ability to meet statutory deadlines
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
Key requirements for this Service Charge Accountant role:
Proven experience delivering service charge estimates and statements of actual costs
Experience managing relationships with external stakeholders
Experience managing and developing staff
Ability to produce clear and concise financial reports
Satisfactory basic DBS check
Desirable experience includes:
Part-qualified professional accountant
Knowledge of the housing sector
Experience using OpenAccounts and Orchard housing systems
Understanding of Registered Provider financial legislation, including FRS 102
