Asset Surveyor

We are recruiting an Asset Surveyor to join a well-established Social Housing Group based in Cambridgeshire, with a regional remit across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Hertfordshire.

As an Asset Surveyor, you will play a key role in delivering the organisation’s Asset Management Strategy, ensuring homes and buildings are safe, compliant, well maintained and fit for purpose, while supporting residents to live independently and safely. Working pattern: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), hybrid working (typically 1–2 days office-based, remainder across sites)

Asset Surveyor key responsibilities include:

• Delivering comprehensive surveying services including stock condition surveys, measured surveys, defect diagnosis, maintenance inspections and HHSRS assessments (with a focus on damp and mould)
• Preparing technical documentation including specifications, drawings, floor plans, tender packs and cost estimates
• Supporting planned, cyclical and major works programmes
• Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, building regulations, planning requirements and health & safety legislation
• Managing contractors, consultants and external stakeholders, overseeing quality, performance and value for money
• Undertaking contract administration and site inspections
• Liaising with landlords, insurers and third parties where required
• Contributing to procurement activities, policy development and service improvement initiatives
• Participating in the out-of-hours on-call rota
• Championing safeguarding and health & safety best practice

Projects will span domestic and commercial properties and include planned maintenance, compliance works, major repairs and improvement programmes across occupied homes and community buildings.

The successful Asset Surveyor will have:

• Minimum three years’ experience in a surveying role
• Strong knowledge of building construction, repairs and maintenance
• Experience delivering planned and reactive maintenance programmes
• Sound understanding of CDM, building regulations and health & safety compliance
• Experience in contractor and contract management
• Ability to produce accurate specifications, drawings, reports and cost estimates
• Strong IT skills including Word, Excel and CAD software
• Confidence working in occupied properties with residents who may have diverse needs
• A professional, organised and pragmatic approach
• Full driving licence and ability to travel regularly across regional sites
