Consultancy Section Manager
Born and raised in Hereford, Matt moved to Birmingham to organise and co-ordinate golf tournaments for the PGA alongside being a golf coach.
With the frustration of working weekends growing, a few friends said he should give recruitment a go and in 2014 he joined Niyaa People as a Trainee Consultant.
5 years later, he now manages the private sector Consultancy team and personally recruits into the Commercial Real Estate/Property sector.
What’s your time been like at Niyaa People so far?
“My time at Niyaa has been a bit of a fun roller coaster with no seatbelt, I started in Facilities Management recruitment, changed over to set up a new desk into Public Sector Property & Surveying and now I am the permanent private sector manager overseeing the Consultancy Team of 7.”
What do you like about your desk?
“I enjoy the challenge, it’s a new sector for us and setting it up has been just that. Being a part of a very competitive market makes me want to become better!”
What advice would you give to someone coming into recruitment?
“Recruitment forces you become very commercially aware and you learn to be effective at managing your own time, be open minded and a sponge – you need to be keen at learning and not a know it all. Personally, I still don’t fully understand the job and I’m always striving to know more.”
